I feel like I have been so busy lately. Maybe I have just been thinking too much about our future in life and music and business and love and family but really I have been here the whole time. In the music and out on tour. It is what we do and we love it and it has been our best outing yet. From Vancouver to the Roseland in Portland and off to the Chicago shows and the American Ghetto preview out in Boston which Zoe Manville www.zoemanville.com joined us for as well as our last US date in New York City for CMJ before the Satanists visit to Europe the Tour with Drug Rug was amazing. Drug Rug has been on our tour “wish list” for some time now and I cannot begin to tell you how much we love them… well, at the very least I could begin to tell you. They are great musicians and songwriters and beautiful people as well. A perfect pairing. So, Thank you Drug Rug for joining us in full. You were lovely and I hope anyone reading this blog takes the time to check them out. We also were very lucky to have Robert Francis for the west coast as well as Hockey for the east. Again, very cool people. Hockey being another Portland based group was the obvious first choice on our list… always representing our homes, as we are now in Germany with our close friends The Builders and the Butchers who are all Alaskans based now in Portland. Fun facts? Harvey of TBATB was in our group originally and was also a highschool friend while Ray Rude sang for Jasons other band Konami Defense System. Connection provider…. I will say more about them in a minute… Robert Francis for the west was very fun to meet up with. Very very tight band and good people. Thank you Robert Francis and band and Thank you Hockey.
There were some big surprises on the tour from The massive turnout in Madison and Milwaukee and the two sold out nights in Chicago and the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. You all made us feel so good to be doing this. I have mentioned it before but this job takes us away from family, it strains relationships and loves and we do it not only for all of you but for all of them as well and for the sake of this band just doing what it needs to do. We have been talking about taking some bigger steps in the future and we will keep you up to date on everything. For now I will tell you about where we have gone and what we have done.
What else? We were lucky to have our friend Brandon Mitchell (creator of this website you are reading) out selling merch and doing updates from the road. we had a few injuries and a few sicknesses and some cases of the SADS which we have somehow played through. wait… I said we were lucky to have Brandy out right? Well, that state champ wrestler Brandon instigated some hotel horseplay that lead to me breaking my hand in Arizona… I should have told you sooner… it hurts really bad to shake hands. I am lucky it is my picking hand but unlucky in that it is my shaking hand. Hopefully it is not too bad. I will have it checked out when back from Europe. Fingers crossed for no serious injury or long term damage. We all got sick along the way and just had to play through it. It is actually kinda fun to do, playing through sickness. It really makes you focus. AND THAT is what we tell ourselves. We are not sick, just working harder.
Now to Europe. Gretsch White Falcon lost enroute by BRITISH AIRWAYS. Lost by BRITISH AIRWAYS. Birthday present from my father and favorite guitar. My baby and my best friend. I miss you. It seems to be lost for good seeing as how they gave me my time frame to submit the loss… with reciepts. Which I will not have for all my clothes that I had packed in the case and the extra Bridges and saddles packed along with it. Sad times there but again, we are playing through it and my Jazzmaster sounds pretty killer. I can look at the bright side in this.
All in all, I love you. I love this band and I love this music. We love and back Rich, our Manager and Matt, our agent. We love our families and we do this for the our health. We need to create and need to tour and we owe it to you for all the support you have given us. Very cool.
Hmmm…. I wrote this in “Quick Post” and can’t really see what this blog says. Lets post and hope it is not repetitive.
except for this part.
We love you.
We love you.
We love you.
The Tour of the Satanist continues.
Satanic Satanist is in stores and from what I hear has been getting some radio play? True? How cool! Does that mean anything today? I’m not sure. Still pretty crazy. It is all because of you. You must know this.
Thank you
We love you.
That’s why the only time I ever flew I fed exed my stuff home and just took my guitar on the plane with me, it had some awesome signatures on it, and it’s been in my family since before I was born so I decided not to risk anything! That really sucks about your guitar
Strange things happen, it could be on its way back to you, try not to worry about it.
You’re being so cryptic but I hope that whatever is in your future = more music and touring and safe, non hand breaking horseplay.
We love you too
We love you too
We love you too
and……….
we love you too.

P.S. when people try to shake your hand, be like, “psh, naw…” and just go in for a hug.

It’s really unfortunate what happened to your guitar…i remember the first time I saw it how much it blew me away. It’s so big, in terms of size and sound! Every time I step into my local guitar shop and see it I think of you guys and how much your music means to me. Hope it turns up! Looking forward to nothing more than the future of this band.
Peace and Love,
Jack Austin Gilbert

You guys are a big inspiration for my band back up here in Alaska (Soldotna/Kenai area), thank you so much for all of the music and hard work and the sacrifices that you guys continually make to do what you do best.

Curse British Airways! But you’re ability to remain postitive is inspiring, much like everything that you and the rest of the band do.
I feel insanely honoured to have seen you on this tour;
your love for your fans is reciprocated a zillion times over!
Stay Gold, PTM.

John Im praying for your guitars safe return. I must confess…when I saw you guys live in Cleveland Ohio at the Grog Shop two years ago I saw your guitar sitting out and thought to myself….hmmmm I wonder how bad of an ass whooping I would take for trying to pick her up and take a strum on her. I chickened out of course. In retrospect I have been regretting my decision lol, or lack there of, but hindsight is 20:20. I really do hope you get it back though.
What kind of guitar was it? Gretch right?
We love all of you very very much. I hope all of you guys have a great holiday season!

Will the airline compensate? because Gretsch White Falcon’s tend to be a little pricy, plus it was a gift.. I really hope you’re guitar gets back to you, it’s almost part of the bands image now, haha.. Can’t wait to hear American Ghetto, haven’t been this excited since the release of TSS. Hope you guys have fun on tour, and have a safe trip back to the states!

i hate to say it but if it wasnt found by now it was most likely taken. but at least that guitar will live on through the beautiful music it made

I woke up this morning because my older brother texted me and said “John’s white falcon was lost by british airlines!” and then proceeded to rub it in that you guys are playing back to back at Doug fir where my 19 year old ass will not be allowed. Welp, time to get a fake. Bummer about that beast of an instrument dudes, I didn’t see the jazzmaster in action at the roseland but I bet she’s tasty. Hope all is well, we miss you back home. And WE LOVE YOU!

Actually, if it weren’t for hearing you guys on the radio (college radio, but still!) I may never have discovered you. Heard “Colors” on NC State’s station, downloaded the album, loved it, and bought every CD past present and future (and a shirt that you signed at Bonnaroo when I was able to shake your unbroken hand!). I recommended you to friends who now love you and thank me so much you’d think I made the music myself. All because of the radio!
Hope youre hand is better by now; let us know because we love and care about you!
